Asher's Blood

Detective Asher Barnes wanted nothing more than to live an average, ordinary, human life. She wanted to have the typical upbringing most people got with at least one loving parent. Fate, on the other hand, had other plans for her. She was anything but average or ordinary, even if she was very much human. She didn't have a typical upbringing.

The man who raised her was cruel, unforgiving, and not to mention, a vampire lord. Her father controlled all of those in his path. Those who refused to bend, were cut down. Asher was no exception to her father's rule. His identity was carved into her very skin. This made escaping him an uneasy task, no matter how hard she tried.

The one time she succeeded, Asher was forced to move back to his estate. Her father had plans for her, and refusing was not an option. So she moved back to appease her father, leaving the only home she had found in the world.

All that Asher had left now was her work, but even that wasn't what she had hoped it to be. The secret life she grew up in now infested every inch and aspect of her life, including her work. Her new partner, Dominic Morris, was no exception. When Dominic wasn't too busy stealing the hearts of every woman in their office, he was busy making Asher's life more difficult. They couldn't have been more different.
