Love is a Serious Matter: Translation from Russian
Kiev of last decades before the Mongol invasion (first half of thirteenth century AD). Rus is torn apart by princely intestine wars. But people live their everyday life with simple human care and uneasiness.
The main characters of the narrative are Kieviters. There are the son of Kiev head-of-thousand Aleksa and daughter of ordinary gunsmith Lyubava. He happened to meet her and fell in love. Aleksa and Lyubava had to go through a great load of trials, class, and simply human in order to be together. Their son Yura was born. His birth has reconciled everybody and brought peace into the family.
New severe trails were waiting for the characters. The terrible menace of the Mongol inroad hung over the world. A lot of rich countries fell. Flourished before cities lied in ruins. The misfortune has come to Rus as well.
The personages of the tale were fated to experience many months of siege of Kiev. Together with one another, Kieviters Lyubava, Aleksa desperately fought for their hometown, which presented their life, love, and happiness. Their love helped them to survive and go through ordeals in the terrible days of December 1240.
